Common questions

The questions people ask before they pick a game to learn.

What are the most popular card games in India?

Teen Patti and Rummy are the two most widely played, followed by Andar Bahar in the south and Call Break across the north-east and Nepal. Blackjack and Dragon Tiger are played more often online than at home tables.

What is taash ka khel?

Taash means playing cards in Hindi, so taash ka khel simply means a card game. It covers everything on this site - Teen Patti, Rummy, Andar Bahar and the rest.

Which Indian card game is easiest to learn?

Andar Bahar. There is one decision - which side to pick - and the round resolves on the first matching card. Dragon Tiger is even shorter but less widely played at home.

Is Teen Patti the same as poker?

No. Teen Patti uses three cards rather than five, which reverses part of the hand ranking - a sequence beats a colour here. It also has the blind and seen betting structure, which poker has no equivalent of.

Where can I learn the rules of Indian card games?

Every game on this site has a full rules page, a hand ranking or scoring page, and a glossary of table terms, in English with the Hindi originals alongside.
