What this is. An Andar Bahar card game. A centre card is turned up, you pick a side, and cards deal alternately until the rank repeats.

Free to download and free to play.

7K7
The centre card, a card to Andar, then the matching seven. That is a complete round.

The rule set it implements

Standard Andar Bahar. One card face up in the centre, then cards dealt alternately to the Andar and Bahar piles, with the first side to receive a matching rank winning the round.

Which side is dealt to first depends on the colour of the centre card — black deals first to Andar, red deals first to Bahar — and the side dealt to first carries a slight edge. The Andar Bahar rules explains why, and why neither side is favoured overall.

Round length

Rounds are short by design. A match appears after roughly twenty-five cards on average, but it can land on the very first one, which is what gives the game its rhythm.

This makes it the shortest-session game we publish. A round takes under a minute, so it suits short gaps rather than long sittings.

The name it goes by where you are

The same game is called Katti in Karnataka and Mangatha or Ullae Veliyae in parts of Tamil Nadu. If you learned it under one of those names, the rules here are the ones you already know — see Katti and Mangatha, the regional Andar Bahar names.
