Card games compared
What actually differs between these games — not marketing differences, structural ones.
Three things separate every card game on this site: how many cards you hold, how many decisions a round contains, and whether you build a hand or bet on one.
Everything else follows from those.

The comparisons
Teen Patti vs Poker
Three cards against five, and the hand ranking flips: a sequence beats a colour.
Rummy vs Teen Patti
One game is about building a hand over many turns; the other is about pricing one you already hold.
13-Card vs 21-Card Rummy
Three pure sequences instead of one, three decks instead of two, and scoring cards with their own names.
Indian Rummy vs Gin Rummy
Thirteen cards and a declare, against ten cards and a knock.
Call Break vs Rummy
Winning tricks against building melds — and one of them punishes you for winning too many.
Andar Bahar vs Dragon Tiger
Two games that resolve on a single comparison. One is symmetrical; the other is not.
Vying, melding, trick-taking and banking
Card games fall into families, and games in the same family feel similar even when the rules look nothing alike.
- Vying — you get a hand and bet on it. Teen Patti and poker. The cards barely change; the money does.
- Melding — you build combinations over many turns. Rummy in all its forms.
- Trick-taking — cards are played one at a time and someone wins each small round. Call Break, Spades, Bridge.
- Banking — everyone plays against one dealer rather than each other. Blackjack, and the comparison games.
Knowing which family a game belongs to tells you more about how it will feel than any list of rules does.
Common questions
Which of these card games takes the least time to learn?
Dragon Tiger, then Andar Bahar. Both resolve on a single comparison with one decision or none at all. Teen Patti comes next, while Rummy and Call Break take longest because a round runs over many turns.
Which card game family does each of these belong to?
Teen Patti is vying, Rummy is melding, Call Break is trick-taking, and Blackjack, Andar Bahar and Dragon Tiger are banking games. Games in the same family feel similar even when the rules look different.
What is the difference between Rummy and Teen Patti?
Rummy is a melding game — see Rummy vs Teen Patti. You draw and discard across many turns to build sequences and sets. Teen Patti is a vying game: you receive three cards once and the entire round is about betting on them.
Which card game has the most skill?
Rummy and Call Break. Both involve decisions on every turn that change the outcome. Dragon Tiger has none at all — once the deck is shuffled the result is fixed.
